Well...I wanted moisture! And it is early in April....
The rain changed to snow mid-afternoon yesterday, and snow is still coming down, but lightly. The thermometer is holding just around the freezing mark. Looks like just short of 5 inches on the picnic table.
This will bring the water level up!
And just a reminder that it will all melt away, and soon....Took this one of a Wintergreen plant on the weekend....
The forecast has double digits (in the 50's F) starting on Sunday...and sunshine!! Things will really begin to POP then!
Just relentless rain here, we have had our wettest 18months since records began.
ReplyDeleteAppreciating the moisture that will soak in as this melts. We really need that, but looking so forward to sunshine, as you probably are as well!
DeleteWow, that is such an odd sight for April - at least in my neck of the woods! Sounds like it will be changing soon enough though.
ReplyDeleteA bit odd, maybe...but not totally unheard of! Much needed moisture, as the winter was so lacking in usual snow. We were under a fire ban.
DeleteYour flag looks amazing in a black and white world
ReplyDelete'Tis indeed a black and white world, hence trying to grab a bit of colour. Still snowing, another couple of inches overnight......Up to 8 and a half measured this AM. Moisture!
DeleteIt's Friday afternoon and raining here in Alice. The snow is sliding off the metal roofs. The creek is running again. Can you believe it was almost dry prior to this weather event?
ReplyDeleteJust back from a walk/wade. It is misting here, big plops of snow are coming off the trees, and there are the makings of lots of vernal pools in the bush now. This will melt and soak in slowly and do so much good!
DeleteTuesday April 9 now. I just took a nice meander through my bush. It's too DRY again. The little creek the other side of my lane is running again, but how long? Looks like we have a few days of blessed rain on the way!!
DeleteWe can sure use whatever moisture comes. It is always amazing how quickly the bush dries out. That thunder storm was beautiful last night, lightening was flashing behind the clouds all along the western horizon. Right afterwards....the frogs started up!!!!!!
DeleteYour little cabin is a lot like ours. Also your weather sounds very similar. I'm glad you commented on my blog because now I've found yours.
ReplyDeleteWe love our little log house. It is an original, except for the verandah. As far as we can figure, it hails from the 1850-1860's.
DeleteI found your blog from Jenn's blog roll. (Coffee on the Porch with me), and have been enjoying reading it for a bit.
